About Sitemapr.us

Google, Yahoo!, and the other major search engines have agreed on an XML format for representing the links a site has.

Sitemapr.us has been launched to give webmasters a simple interface for creating sitemaps for their sites. Yes, there are many other sitemap-generators out there, from shrink-wrapped packages to other websites, but I want to make such a site from scratch, and see if I can do any better. Check out the sitemap creator, as well as the sitemap ping tool to see what sitemapr.us has to offer.

The point of this blog is to give users of sitemapr.us a place to keep up with the latest news about the site, and also post comments about the site.

Feedback is more than welcome!

Your sitemap submit/ping tool is excellant, it's similar to something I'm looking to implement on my site soon.

The sitemap standard also allows for urllist.txt files which many less sophisticated search engines use as their primary sitemap. These were first used by Yahoo (back in the day) and still referred to by many as a 'Yahoo List' - though I've seen Google read it too.
